Now Hiring: Marketing and Public Relations Intern

Intern Responsibilities
Craft Gym is currently seeking a smart, passionate, and creative intern to handle a variety of projects and tasks, such as:

  • Research editorial calendars, stories, and media contacts
  • Coordinate mailing/emailing of press materials
  • Track media coverage
  • Assemble prospecting lists for target market segments
  • Analyze web traffic
  • Identify online directories and guides for listings
  • Assist with online postings and website updates
  • Research awards, special events, trade shows and speaking opportunities
  • Special projects based on intern’s skills and professional goals may also be proposed, e.g.:
    • Draft press releases/marketing/promotional copy
    • Provide graphic design and production support for collateral materials (e.g. brochures, email newsletters, etc.)
    • Post submissions to industry blogs
    • Other logistical and administrative support, as needed

Requirements
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, has an expressed interest in crafting, and is excited to help grow the business. Interns must be willing to reach out to the community; for example, distributing flyers at targeted drop spots and promoting Craft Gym wherever the opportunity arises. Strong candidates will also possess the following:

  • Startup mentality (self-starter, proactive, positive, and flexible)
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Creativity required to solve tough problems with limited resources
  • Computer skills (comfortable in MS Office applications like Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Publisher. Photoshop skills are a plus)
  • Extensive experience as a web user and participant in web communities
  • Access to a computer
  • Available immediately for a 3-6 month project. Open to the possibility of work beyond the initial timeframe

Compensation
While this is a non-paid position, intern will take away valuable on-the-job experience, having worked on several projects: marketing/communications collateral (e.g., press releases, e-newsletter), press kits, marketing kits, media relations, and market research. In addition, the internship allows for ample networking opportunities among the craft and SF small business community. If our culture is comfortable for you and our working styles are compatible, we would open up the discussion for further possibilities once the three month internship is complete.
