Hospital Buddies
Hospital Buddies are sewn dolls made especially for young patients undergoing surgery to help them understand what the doctors
will be doing and to give them a buddy to be with through their recovery. All Hospital Buddies donated are given to the Children’s Hospital at UCSF Medical Center.
Buddies are an easy sewing project that need just a few scraps of fabric and a little time.
Basic sewing machine knowledge, like that covered in our Sewing 101 class, is necessary.
Buddies can be made in various skin-tones, but their heads are left blank so that the kids can
draw in their own facial features and hair. Feel free to use fun printed fabrics for the buddies'
hospital gowns.
If you need a little help while sewing, Craft Gym's Open Sewing time every second Saturday
of the month, is the perfect time to work on a project like this.
