Sewing Machine Basics: Summer scarf
Level: Beginner

Gain confidence in this session designed for anyone wanting to machine sew. This class will cover basic cutting, sewing and pressing techniques, as well as sewing terms, fabric selection, and operating a sewing machine. Participants will make and take a 2-sided panel scarf in this session. All equipment (incl. sewing machines) and materials will be provided.

Linocut: Stationary sets
Level: Beginner

Create your own stamp and use it to ink your own stationary set. In this session, you'll learn the basics of linocut and leave with a set of 6 fold over cards and a reusable carved linocut block for creating more prints of your design on canvas, paper or fabric.

Shibori with natural dyes
Level: Beginner

Learn to create bound resist designs using vegetable- and plant-based dyes from both traditional and surprising sources. After experiencing two techniques for folding, tying, and wrapping on sample fabrics, you will design and dye your very own yard of unsewn fabric for use in your next project or for display.

Stenciling: t-shirt makeovers
Level: Beginner

Learn how to make graphic stencils, use textile paints, and ink custom graphic tees from your t-shirt stash. Materials fee includes all printing supplies. Inspiration for your stencils can come from many places: your imagination, a monogram, books of clip art, or a simple geometric shape. Feel free to bring any design ideas, a shirt to ink and other fabric items you would like to personalize at this session.

Glass etching: lettering and labels
Level: Beginner

Apply custom lettering to glass bottles and jars. In this session, you will learn how to design/cut stencils, apply etching cream, and etch on flat or curved surfaces. Feel free to bring along one or two glass bottles or jars that you would like to personalize.

Redwork embroidery
Level: Beginner

Redwork embroidery is a classic method for embroidering line art, and a great technique for creating quick heirloom projects. In this session you'll work on muslin to transfer fun designs and learn two basic line stitches: stem stitch and running stitch. Traditionally used on penny squares for quilts, your redwork can embellish dishtowels, t-shirts, and more. You are encouraged to bring a photocopy with line art to transfer.

Metal cold join layering: badges and buckles
Level: Beginner

Learn to cut, shape, join and finish metal to create simple, flat forms and more complex layered pieces. Our medium will be license plates. Make and take an object of your own design for use as a badge or belt buckle.
